Kunming Declaration Adopted at China-Africa Think Tanks Forum

The Kunming Declaration on China-Africa jointly promoting modernization was adopted by scholars at the 14th meeting of China-Africa Think Tanks Forum which was concluded in Kunming, Yunnan Province on May 20, 2025.

 

At the closing ceremony, four speakers respectively presented reports on four sub-topics, focusing on the experiences and recommendations of China-Africa jointly promoting modernization. The reports were drawn from discussions on four sub-topics among over 40 scholars. The speakers included Merlin Mbessa, PhD Candidate in History from the University of Yaoundé I, Cameroon; Li Xi, Assistant Research Fellow of the China-Africa Institute; Alpha Omarr Jalloh, Senior Lecturer of University of Makeni, Sierra Leone; and Lin Mengyuan, Teaching Assistant of School of African Studies, Beijing Foreign Studies University. The concluding remarks were made by Arlindo Barreto, Rector of the University of Cabo Verde; and ‌Tian Feng, Vice President of the China-Africa Institute.

 

Based on the broad consensus reached by all representatives of the forum, it adopted the The Kunming Declaration of China-Africa Think Tanks on Jointly Promoting Exchanges of Experience in Modernization. The declaration aims to promote China-Africa think tanks cooperation to address evolving global challenges, and to provide new impetus to jointly promoting the modernization of the Global South.
