The 21st Ambassador Lecture held by CAI

The China-Africa Institute (CAI) hosted the 21st Ambassador Lecture on February 3, 2026, featuring a keynote speech by Mr. Li Changlin, former Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Morocco. Zhou Gongdai, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Committee of the CAI, delivered the opening remarks, and Prof. Tian Feng, Vice-President of the CAI presided over the lecture. The event was attended by more than 40 scholars from the institute.

Ambassador Li is delivering keynote speech

In his speech titled “The 10th Anniversary of China-Morocco Strategic Partnership: Achievements and Prospects", Ambassador Li Changlin reviewed the longstanding friendship between China and Morocco, that has transcended geographical boundaries. He summarized the achievements of the bilateral cooperation over the past decade since the establishment of the strategic partnership, highlighting the pivotal role of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in advancing China-Morocco relations.

Ambassador Li noted that BRI has gained wide recognition from both the Moroccan government and its people. He underlined that Morocco boasts five distinct strengths in cooperation with China under the BRI, namely its strategic geographical location, the stable political and social environment, well-developed infrastructure, a high degree of economic openness, and skilled workforce, all of which have contributed to the fruitful outcomes of China-Morocco collaboration. The Ambassador also shared a positive outlook on the future of China-Morocco relations and offered an in-depth analysis of key areas for further collaboration.

 

Zhou Gongdai is delivering opening remarks 

Following his speech, Ambassador Li engaged in in-depth discussions with experts and scholars on topics such as the role of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Morocco and the effective approaches to promote employment in the country.

Prof. Tian Feng is making concluding speech

Prof. Tian Feng noted in her concluding remarks that Ambassador Li, with his extensive diplomatic experience and deep familiarity with Morocco, offered insightful perspectives that have enhanced the scholars understanding of China-Morocco cooperation under the BRI, as well as Morocco’s cultural and social landscape. His sharing provides meaningful inspiration for advancing academic research.
